It is hard to explain to someone who hasn't seen or experienced a home birth how incredibly different it is than a hosptial birth or even a birthing center birth... there is something very powerful about a new life coming into the world in a home, which is a sacred spot. Thanks! This is a beautiful blogHeather@Women in the Scriptureshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13840219710920268885noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369970835218911216.post-40002691567331877782010-06-16T20:42:39.535-07:002010-06-16T20:42:39.535-07:00I struggles with the same thing about having mine ...I struggles with the same thing about having mine with a midwife. Although mine wasn't at my home, the birthing center was just as "taboo" to talk about with a lot of people. The most important thing to me was that I was informed, confident and as prepared as I possibly could be. Giving birth SHOULD be transforming! It is the door to a whole new world. I know that because of the decision I made to have her with a midwife, it changed the way I viewed the kind of food she eats, the vaccines she will get, SO many aspects of my mothering changed because of that ONE decision. You should be SO proud of your choice!! I'm proud of you Kami!! ;)Heather Morganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18001702138256693315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369970835218911216.post-34855723318013780722010-06-16T06:05:36.718-07:002010-06-16T06:05:36.718-07:00Such a fabulous conversion story! I agree that we can be led to these decisions after prayer and pondering. I think homebirth and hospital birth options need to be prayed about earnestly. Like you said, the hardest part is following through, because it's not always easy.Missyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10713932053619413703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369970835218911216.post-54220193754326373462010-06-04T08:06:22.304-07:002010-06-04T08:06:22.304-07:00I didn't know you did a home birth! I especially loved it, because while it could have come across like home birth is the only humane way, the director herself was planning on one but had complications and ended up having a c-section. Midwives now are totally capable of seeing complications that would need intervention. I for sure want a midwife when that time comes... not preggers yet :) Maude is beautiful, BTW!Katie C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06607804274610734011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2369970835218911216.post-78585820025781051432010-06-04T07:15:27.592-07:002010-06-04T07:15:27.592-07:00Thank you so much for sharing this! Prayer and personal inspiration was key, and the peace I felt kept me moving forward with what I knew was best. In my case, it was my 5th baby and a surprise breech. If I'd been in the hospital for his birth I would've had a c-section. It was a beautiful gift from God that I birthed him at home. I also found that the birth transformed me and I now have greater peace about pregnancy and birth in general. I'm also less judgmental of the choices others make because I know that each case is individual and decisions need to be made on a personal basis.

I don't know if you've seen my blog.
